Restaurants

Web design for restaurants, cafés and pubs

A restaurant website has four jobs: show the menu, take the booking, answer the questions people ask before they arrive, and be findable when someone searches “somewhere to eat near me”.

Most restaurant sites are out of date in the only place that matters: the menu. A PDF that was uploaded in March, a price that changed in June, a dish that no longer exists. Customers notice, and the staff spend their day correcting it. The fix is not a redesign; it is a menu that is easy to update and a site that loads before the customer walks away.

The second failure is mobile. A family deciding where to eat is standing on a street or sitting on a sofa with a phone. If the menu takes eight seconds to open, the decision is made elsewhere. We build for that moment: fast pages, a readable menu, a booking button that works and opening hours that are actually correct.

The essentials

What a venue site needs

A menu you can update

Structured sections and prices in a simple content file, so a change takes minutes rather than a developer call.

Reservations

A booking link or embedded engine that works on a phone. If you take bookings by phone, say so clearly and show the number.

Allergens

The 14 major allergens listed or linked, with a clear instruction to speak to staff. This is a legal requirement as well as a courtesy.

Hours and location

Opening hours that are easy to change, a map, parking and public transport information.

Private hire and events

A page for functions, Christmas and large tables, with capacity and a simple enquiry form.

Local search

A complete Google Business Profile, recent photographs and reviews. Most “near me” decisions never reach the website at all.

Practical

Built around the working week

  • Changes without a support ticketMenu, hours and offers are all editable by the venue.
  • Fast on a phoneNo hero video, no 4MB food photography. Images sized and compressed for the device.
  • No booking commission if you do not want itWe can embed a third-party engine or build a simple enquiry flow. The choice stays yours.
  • Structured dataRestaurant schema with hours, menu, price range and location, so search engines can read the facts.

Questions

The things people ask first

Can we keep our existing booking system?

Yes. Most booking systems offer an embed or a link. We will test the flow on a phone and make sure the customer is not lost along the way.

Do you build online ordering?

Not as a first project. A third-party ordering platform is usually better value unless you have high volume and a specific workflow. We can integrate one properly.

How often can we change the menu?

As often as you like. The menu lives in a structured content file or a small admin screen, and changes go live on the next deploy. The care plan covers a monthly allowance; unlimited edits are available.

How much does a restaurant site cost?

A one-page site with menu, hours and booking is £495 plus VAT. A five-page site with menus, private hire and contact is £995. Photography is extra.
